Hardware

Apertus is comprised of several parts/modules:

The Camera

The core of Apertus is an Elphel camera.

Viewfinder

Because of the open architecture you can basically use any laptop as viewfinder. Even netbooks work pretty well.
The viewfinder software Elphelvision is designed to be used with a touchscreen so a tablet-pc is favored.

Buttons & Knobs Interface

Even though many modern state of the art cameras - even the profesional ones - base their interface around a touchscreen there is nothing like turning a solid knob to alter shutter speeds, etc. Dictator will fulfill this need.

Rods Support

The Rods will give the camera a flexible but solid mechanical framework to mount all kinds of things on the body.

Audio inputs

It is  possible to record audio using any linux compatible USB audio adapter.
Oscar is doing tests with an XLR audio input called "USB Dual PRE", see here : http://www.tascam.de/art/en/artcess/preamp/usbdualpre.html
